Round 2

Tomorrow is the beginning of our second Code Academy class. It has been an amazing journey over the past 9 months. One year ago I would consider myself a snot-nosed, wannabe Ruby developer with little vision with where I would end up.

Our first class were the innovators, they took the leap despite the fact that we were unproven. They invested in themselves and put a ton of faith in us to deliver on our promises. With this next class the value is becoming exponential, not just for our new students but for our alumni as well. In addition to our new amazing space in the John Hancock Center I’m also closing an additional space for people to work out of when they aren’t in class.

Yesterday I called a meeting with the new Code Academy staff, we went from a team of 3 – 5 last quarter to a team of about 12! We hired 5 new people this quarter, Mike and I are beyond stoked about what this will mean for our ability to make CA that much better. I’ll cover everyone and their roles in a future post, but for now just know that I feel like I’m in my comfort zone again, teams of 10 – 13 are my favorite, it’s amazing how much can get done when you know how to effectively lead and manage teams like that.

And finally – this will enable Jeff, Mike and I to work on phase 2 of the operation – our apps that “add value” aka “make money.”

Watch out.
